Marine System Oil | SAE 30 | TBN 5 / TBN 8
A premium-quality marine system oil range formulated for the crankcase, crosshead, and camshaft lubrication of low-speed, two-stroke crosshead marine diesel engines fitted with a separate cylinder lubrication system. Available in TBN 5 (Aerox System Oil 3005) and TBN 8 (Aerox System Oil 3008) grades, both SAE 30, to suit engine builder guidance and operating conditions.
AEROX MRN System Oil 3005 and 3008 are SAE 30 system oils formulated with high-quality base stocks and a low-ash, calcium-based detergent-dispersant additive system with anti-wear, anti-oxidant, and anti-corrosion inhibitors. Designed for use in the crankcase/system oil circuit of low-speed two-stroke crosshead engines (distinct from the cylinder lubrication circuit), they provide effective control of oxidation, varnish, and sludge formation, along with reliable protection of crosshead bearings, camshaft, and gear drive components over extended service intervals. The TBN 8 grade (3008) offers additional reserve alkalinity where higher water/condensate contamination or engine builder guidance calls for it, while the TBN 5 grade (3005) suits engines specifying a lower base system oil.
APPLICATIONS
• Crankcase, crosshead bearing, camshaft, and reduction/turning gear lubrication of low-speed, two-stroke crosshead marine diesel engines with a separate cylinder lubrication system (e.g., MAN B&W, WinGD/Sulzer designs).
• Select TBN 3005 (TBN 5) or 3008 (TBN 8) per engine builder / OEM system oil specification and operating condition (e.g., fresh-water generator condensate ingress, dockside/standby periods).
• Not intended for cylinder lubrication duty — use the appropriate Lukeron MRN MCL cylinder oil grade for that circuit.
KEY FEATURES & BENEFITS
• Low-ash detergent-dispersant system keeps crosshead bearings, camshaft drives, and crankcase surfaces clean, minimising sludge and varnish formation.
• Reserve alkalinity (TBN 5 or TBN 8) neutralises acidic by-products from oil oxidation and any incidental water/condensate contamination.
• Good demulsibility and rapid water separation protect against rust and corrosion in the presence of condensate or cooling water leakage.
• Strong oxidation and thermal stability extend system oil service life and reduce filter/purifier loading.
• Consistent batch-to-batch quality backed by Lukeron's in-house quality control.
