MRN GAS ENGINE OIL 4005 & 4010
Gas Engine Oil | SAE 40 | Low Ash (TBN 5) / Medium Ash (TBN 10)
A premium, low-ash gas engine oil range formulated for the crankcase lubrication of stationary and marine four stroke spark-ignited gas engines running on natural gas, LNG boil-off gas, biogas, and similar gaseous fuels. Available in Low Ash (MRN Gas Engine Oil 4005, TBN 5) and Medium Ash (MRN Gas Engine Oil 4010, TBN 10) grades to suit engine design, fuel gas quality, and OEM ash-content requirements
AEROX MRN Gas Engine Oil 4005 and 4010 are SAE 40 gas engine oils formulated with high-quality base stocks and a
carefully controlled low-ash detergent-dispersant additive system with anti-wear, anti-oxidant, and anti-nitration inhibitors.
Controlled ash content limits pre-ignition, spark plug fouling, valve and piston deposit formation, and exhaust
catalyst/turbocharger fouling that can result from high-ash formulations in gas engine service. The Low Ash 4005 grade
suits engines and OEM guidance specifying minimal ash content, while the Medium Ash 4010 grade provides additional
reserve alkalinity and deposit control where fuel gas quality, wet/sour gas exposure, or engine builder specification calls
for it.
APPLICATIONS
• Crankcase lubrication of stationary and marine four-stroke spark-ignited gas engines (main and auxiliary/genset) running on natural gas, LNG boil-off gas, biogas, or similar gaseous fuels.
• Select Low Ash 4005 (TBN 5) or Medium Ash 4010 (TBN 10) per engine builder / OEM ash-content and TBN specification, fuel gas quality, and application (e.g., catalyst-equipped or turbocharged units).
• Not intended for diesel-fuelled trunk piston or crosshead cylinder/system oil duty — refer to the appropriate Lukeron MRN TPEO, MCL, or System Oil grade for those applications.
KEY FEATURES & BENEFITS
• Controlled low-ash formulation minimises pre-ignition, spark plug fouling, and valve/piston deposit formation typical of gas engine service.
• Balanced TBN (5 or 10) neutralises acidic combustion by-products while limiting ash-related deposit risk to turbochargers and exhaust after-treatment components.
• Strong oxidation and nitration resistance supports extended oil drain intervals under sustained high-load, high temperature gas engine operation.
▪ Effective anti-wear protection for highly loaded valve trains, bearings, and gear drives in gas engine service.
▪ Consistent batch-to-batch quality backed by Lukeron's in-house quality control.
